About us
I’m Bóša. A sportsman, a photographer and a traveller. And it’s probably with travelling that my story begins. I have travelled through 45 countries and cycled over 20 thousand kilometres on a number of expeditions. In 2011, I was the first Czech to cycle through Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania in Africa. The year before, I cycled from Saint Petersburg to Helsinki.
I love challenges, both in sport and in life. I like finding out what my body can handle! I have tried running a marathon and competed in “our” Jizerka 50 cross-country skiing race, as well as the cult “Vasák” event ( a 90 km cross-country skiing race). I have also raced in -35°C in Lapland.
Why the new brand?
I’m no longer exactly sure when I came up with the idea of making sports accessories. And why? After all, there are so many brands already on the market! But … I couldn’t get the idea out of my head, especially when I thought about how the sophisticated headbands and hats made of high quality materials that I could see at races were not available on the market. Why shouldn’t an “amateur” sportsperson have the opportunity to purchase a top-flight headband like the ones the very best sportspeople have?
I had worked for international sportswear manufacturers and also tested materials and clothing for a number of sports brands for many years. However, I often came up against limits that held me back there and I had no way of improving the quality of these products. I simply had no say in the design or the new trends.
And so, one rainy day in the Jizera Mountains, I said to myself that the time had come to combine my competition and travel experience with my knowledge of materials and long-term testing undertaken for other sports brands. I came up with the first products in collaboration with my friends from the world of sports and so the Bosa brand was born. I am glad that I didn’t rush the development and that I have managed to create something that can make every day better for my brand’s customers.
Production and materials
From the very beginning, I looked for materials and perfected the designs that would be the best and most reliable. I refused recommendations from vendors along the lines of “just take that material, everybody is using it and it’s fine. You’ll see”. It was not my style to make something average, which would only satisfy 50% of sportspeople. I felt responsible for their performance and sporting experience, because I knew that they would eventually find themselves in a situation where they would have to rely on Bosa. And I have held to this idea. From the very start, it has always been a priority to manufacture the products in the Czech Republic, because it simply made sense to me. This is still the case today and I am pleased that it is so.
But that is not the end! I am still racing, still testing new materials and, thanks to my excellent team, I am still preparing new and interesting sports products for you.
